Mr. Dhawan has 27 years of heavy and highway construction experience. Prior to founding UNICORN, from 1991 through 1996, Mr. Dhawan worked as a Project Supervisor on 3 major bridge reconstruction projects in New York City exceeding $600 million in value. Under Mr. Dhawan’s direction and sole ownership, Unicorn Construction Enterprises, Inc. was founded in 1997 as a self-performing heavy, civil, general contractor serving the New York City public works market. UNICORN has successfully completed over 100 projects since its inception in 1997 and continues to improve and diversify under Mr. Dhawan’s leadership. Mr. Dhawan holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Cornell University and a Professional Engineering License in the State of Connecticut.
Mr. Dhawan has 47 years of civil design and construction experience. Since 1978, he has concentrated his efforts on the New York Metropolitan Area’s aging bridge and highway sector. Mr. Dhawan also has vast technical experience designing and managing public works projects such as buildings, dams, foundations, wastewater treatment and transit facilities throughout the Northeast. In addition to the design of permanent facilities, Mr. Dhawan provides engineering support for the design of temporary structures, demolition schemes and erection procedures, re-designs and value-engineering. His education includes a B.S. degree from Punjab University (India) and M.S. degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology. Professional Licenses include New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
Mr. Cocco has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry with major
multi-million-dollar general contracting companies. His experience is comprised with
nationwide multi-company general contractors. He has overseen mergers and acquisitions and
has led dramatic turnaround operations in the ever-evolving, highly competitive heavy
construction industry. As a loyal employee at Unicorn, under the direction of the CEO, Mr.
Cocco is responsible for leading the company’s growth and expansion in the region and
identifying new business opportunities.
In addition, he is responsible for staffing,
supervising projects and managing owner relationships. Mr. Cocco’s decisions impact every
aspect of Unicorn’s business, his duties encompass enforcing departmental standard operating
procedures and implementing new policies to strengthen and streamline the company’s
continued growth and development. He leads all projects directed by the CEO, performs
strategic and tactical finance, data analytics, enhance technological development,
procurement, safety & risk management, taxation, project management, business development,
human resources, and mentorship. Since joining Unicorn in 2002, he has fast-tracked and
managed their multi-million-dollar growth, positioning the company to compete by
successfully augmenting the company’s bonding capacity. Mr. Cocco holds a Bachelor of
Science degree in Accounting from Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) along with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and an MBA in Project Management from
the University of Phoenix.
Ms. Gravina has been a dedicated employee with Unicorn Construction for 9 years. As the Controller, she strives to establish, monitor, and enforce policies, procedures and internal controls, while ensuring compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements. Her role also consists of conducting audits, working with project teams to achieve budget objectives by analyzing expenditures, variances, and initiating corrective actions. As the Human Resources Director, Ms. Gravina promotes a healthy team environment while maintaining and improving staff through training and mentoring employees. She has created an extensive job analyses and continues to contribute to the company’s growth through recruiting high quality employees. In addition, she conducts in-depth orientations, manages wages and salaries, provides benefits and incentives, evaluates performance, resolves disputes, and thoroughly communicates with employees at every level. Ms. Gravina attended Ramapo College of New Jersey and continues to maintain her professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
