We specialize in bridge superstructure elements, like: steel framing, bridge decks and barriers, as well as approach slabs and roadways, curbs, gutters and sidewalks. We have extensive knowledge of transportation department policies, specifications and protocols for highway and bridge construction in New York State and New York City.

Precast and cast in place structures. Cast in place (formed and poured) expertise lies in foundation, retaining structures, and substructure elements such as piers, columns, cap-beams and abutments. We also specialize in precast construction methods for earth retention systems, vaults and subsurface chambers, and bridge decks.

Subsurface utilities include installation of water, sewer and storm drainage construction. In addition, UNICORN has experience with structural (bridge) drainage and bridge dry standpipe installation. While working with certain specialty firms, we have installed power, communication and signal infrastructure, including, but not limited to, high and low voltage electrical ductbanks, signal and communication cable troughs, utility vaults, handholes and manholes, splicing chambers and electrical equipment foundations and buildings. Furthermore, we have also installed critical foundation and support structures for large diameter gas pipeline work. Associated work required to safely handle construction of these subsurface utility elements is the excavation and design/installation of safe support of excavation (SOE) and work plans in compliance with local and federal regulations..

UNICORN also performs the excavation, grading and paving of plazas, piers, public parks and fields. Under this classification, we include: grading, asphalt paving, stone tile and brick work as well as decorative concrete paving.
