Sanjeev Dhawan, P.E.

Principal / Owner

Mr. Dhawan has over 20 years of heavy and highway construction experience. Prior to founding UNICORN, from 1991 through 1996, Mr. Dhawan worked as a Project Supervisor on 3 major bridge reconstruction projects in New York City exceeding $400 million in value. Under Mr. Dhawan’s direction and sole ownership, Unicorn Construction Enterprises, Inc. was founded in 1997 as a self-performing heavy, civil, general contractor serving the New York City public works market. UNICORN has successfully completed over 100 projects since its inception in 1997 and continues to improve and diversify under Mr. Dhawan’s leadership. Mr. Dhawan holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Cornell University and a Professional Engineering License in the State of Connecticut.

Sudesh K. Dhawan, P.E.

Chief Engineer

Mr. Dhawan has 50 years of civil design and construction experience. Since 1978, he has concentrated his efforts on the New York Metropolitan Area’s aging bridge and highway sector. Mr. Dhawan also has vast technical experience designing and managing public works projects such as buildings, dams, foundations, wastewater treatment and transit facilities throughout the Northeast. In addition to the design of permanent facilities, Mr. Dhawan provides engineering support for the design of temporary structures, demolition schemes and erection procedures, re-designs and value-engineering. His education includes a B.S. degree from Punjab University and M.S. degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology. Professional Licenses include New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

Louis R. Cocco

Vice President

With over 35 years experience in the construction industry with Major Multi-Company General Contractors, four of which were a nationwide prime General Contractor, he has overseen mergers and acquisitions, and has led dramatic turnaround operations in the ever-evolving, highly competitive heavy construction industry. At UNICORN, as a senior advisor, his contributions impact every aspect of their business. His duties encompass several management positions which oversees the strategic and tactical planning, data analytics, accounting, cash flow, procurement, insurance, Human Resources, payroll, EEO, pensions, sales and marketing, Finance and Taxation as well as project management, Safety, risk management, business development, operations, all phases of construction, estimating, purchasing, subcontract preparation, & legal liaison. Since joining UNICORN in 2002, he has fast-tracked and managed its multi-million dollar growth, positioning them to compete by augmenting the company’s bonding capacity with an excellent safety track record. Mr. Cocco holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from the UASD University, B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a M.B.A. degree in Project Management from the University of Phoenix.

Michael J. Zysk

Director of Field Operations

Mr. Zysk has over 20 years of heayy and highway construction experience. Career experience includes Project Management duties on the Williamsburg Bridge ($255 million), and Triborough Bridge ($136 million). Work under his supervision on these two projects included every aspect of new bridge construction as well as structural rehabilitation. Since joining UNICORN in 2003, Mr. Zysk has been instrumental in supervising the management of all field operations for the company including pre-construction activities. His expertise lies in complete bridge replacement including substructure and superstructure demolition, foundations, new structural concrete and steel, bridge decks and barriers as well as MPT, subsurface utilities and urban street reconstruction. Mr. Zysk holds both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil and Structural Engineering from Manhattan College.
